It’s around the time of that fifth drink that The Dears make the most sense — the point where you’ve realized it’s too late to go meet your friends at the club and you’re drunk alone. It’s all blurry just past midnight and you’ve figured out it’s too late to call your pals, but what the fuck, who needs them anyway? Over and over in your head the line “You’ve got my soul/I’ve got your heart” rings and rings. Outwardly beautiful in its sentiment, it’s just when you’re feeling all fuzzy and mellow that you get that jolt. Wait a minute, you’re willing to give up your soul and she’s only giving her heart? What’s the deal? That’s totally unfair. And then you listen to it over and over again…
