Everyone wants to be on a Carlos Santana CD like everyone wants to be in a Woody Allen movie; yet the results of either are rarely funny (at least since about 1998). Following his 1999 pop comeback, Supernatural, and 2002's less-successful follow-up, Shaman, Santana again assembles a disparate range of individuals to sing along to his classic guitar work. This time his boring social scene consists of Steven Tyler, Sean Paul, Joss Stone and Michelle Branch, who makes her second Santana single appearance as if the first was so spectacular. Unsurprisingly Mary J. Blige and Big Boi's track, "My Man," rises above the bland, made-for-AC-radio material and "Brown Skin Girl," which features American Idol runner-up Bo Bice, only gets points for sounding like "Careless Whisper."
