Background/ Composition:
This four girl/one guy classic punk outfit played Misfits covers like they wrote them.
Grade: 80
Comment:
"I kind of like their old songs better, but only because they're faster."
I overheard a dude in a denim jacket say that to his friend and it pretty much sums up my impression of Mika Miko. What is there to say? They played hardcore retro punk rock. It was fine. The show was fun and the mosh pit thrived, but from a critical perspective it's hard to say much besides, "Good show, could've been faster."
Achievement of Rock 'n' Roll Expectations
80-100: Exceeds skill and knowledge expectations, i.e. rocked us so hard we peed our pants.
70-79: Achieves required skills and knowledge. Meets rock 'n' roll standard.
60-69: Demonstrates some skills. Approaches rock 'n' roll standard.
50-59: Demonstrates some required skills and knowledge in a limited way.
00-50: Has not demonstrated required skills or knowledge.
Learning Skills: E=Excellent, G=Good, S=Satisfactory, N=Sad Really
Oral And Visual Communication
Eye Contact: E
Pronunciation: E
Stage Presence: E
Stage Banter: E

Appearance: E
Use Of Stage: E
Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
It's automatically interesting that Mika Miko had two vocalists equally fronting the band. Their contrasting debutante vs. street kid looks and solid punk growls are bonus wins. Perfect marks for this category.

Sound: G
Composition: S
Songs: S
Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Mika Miko delivered classic punk like they were daughters of Danzig. It was a nostalgia trip, ultimately, but doods still love to mosh. Points for playing fast, heavy and on-beat. Negative points for bringing nothing that we haven't heard before.
Other Skills And Areas Of Interest

Indie Rock Footwear: G

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Co-vocalist Victor Fandgore's Sweet Valley High look was totally charming. She could have been on her way to her equestrian lessons in the Hamptons. That kind of contrast is incredibly hot in a punk rock setting.
