Background/ Composition:
Zeus are a Toronto-based quartet of highly skilled musicians. Two of them normally back Jason Collett, but have deservedly stepped into the spotlight all on their lonesome.

Grade: 83

Comment:
Zeus got the night off to a heady start with their lively amalgam of country and indie rock while the already mostly full Courthouse reciprocated with a boisterous reception. Zeus were the night's highlight and made their performance look effortless.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
The band's high energy and the seemingly constant game of musical chairs made for a captivating stage show. With time at a premium, they stuck to the songs, forgoing much in the way of chit chat, which was fine by me. The more music, the better.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Sound would be an ongoing issue throughout the evening, but Zeus managed to overcome a sometimes so-so mix and delivered what felt like an all too short set full of intertwined, countrfied guitars and vocal harmonies. The band traded instruments like playing cards, and each played whatever they had in their hands as deftly as the last.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Beards and the now de rigeur kick-ass old timey moustaches abounded on stage, and each band member seemed to take a page out of Collett's book of style, (though sans the awesome vintage suits Collett has been known to wear).
