Crooked X — Crooked X

Music Review
Crooked X's self-titled album

Crooked X are a bit of an oddity in the sense that the super-young musicians are also super-talented.

The Oklahoma quartet's debut boasts badass crunchy guitars and roaring solos comprised by a medley of every band Crooked X listened to growing up. "Growing up" might not even work appropriately considering these kids are merely 15.

They've had songs featured in Rock Band, opened for rock 'n' roll heavyweights like KISS and they're barely in high school. This means the content is a little lackluster, lyrically, but instrumentally it's chunky and aggressively in-your-face.

"Rock N Roll Dream" is that typical song about not wanting to go to school and just play in a band all day. They can check that off their list. Standout tracks include "You Gotta Bleed" and "Nightmare," which are awesome in that dirty '90s way and especially impressive since they probably weren't even alive yet when this music was in its prime.

It'll be interesting to see where these guys go when they have more to sing about than Satan and ditching math class. This band are going to make waves once they open their eyes to more than Metallica and Alice In Chains records.
