Sensitive folkie Peter Katz turns things up a notch on More Nights, and the result is a decent slice of adult-friendly indie. Featuring 10 tracks that recall the finer moments of Blue Rodeo, Cat Stevens and latter-day Van Morrison, Katz proves an apt lyricist capable of throwing the odd curveball when necessary, including the line about wearing sweat pants in "Posters." That said, lines like these are the exception rather than the rule, and Katz's primary focus is talking about romance and feelings and all those typical subjects that make young girls swoon and young guys uneasy. The album's best cut is arguably the title track, which is delightfully understated and proves that a mere voice and acoustic guitar can wield as much power as a full band arrangement — which surprisingly kicks in at the four-minute mark.
