The way producer-rapper Mocky sees it, the world is an illusion and the only thing that's real is love — so let's get it on. On Are+Be, he joins up with some Can-Euro pals to mix his white-boy soul and white-trash rap into chilly Euro funk and dance. Mocky hooks up with Peaches' electro beats, Gonzales' lyrical pranksterism and, yes, another welcome guest vocal from Feist, who gets jiggy like a sophisticated Ashanti. Sexy and dance floor-ready, Mocky's jams might put him in the new line of mustached, seemingly non-ironic retro-funk hip-hoppers, but he's flyer than Har Mar Superstar and intelligent enough to be closer to book-smart MCs like Buck 65.
