Slash's Snakepit — Ain't Life Grand

Slash's Snakepit - Ain't Life Grand

What the fuck happened here? I thought that Slash was OFF drugs. Maybe he is and doesn't realize that 15 years have passed. Playing out like the stuff the Black Crowes left off their last "comeback" album, with a touch more Southern redneck crud and a flare for wanky jamming, Slash's Pukepit are going the way of my last lunch... down the shitter with a big wad of paper and toxic fumes.

Apparently seeing the need to get "emotional," the former Gunner releases 12 pointless tracks of music that weren't even cool three trends ago. Granted, while the occasional tune such as "Just Like Anything," "Serial Killer" and opener "Been There Lately," have miniscule moments of faint interest, the rest of the album is drowned with utterly terrible ballads like "Back To The Moment," which are so fucking sad, it makes one wonder how the once-brilliant hairpiece who wrote instant classics in "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Patience," could have become a chezz-agent, hocking this adult-contemporary kife that would make the Damn Yankees laugh.

While the guitar playing is excellent as always, it's clear that the bad boy has grown up, lost his edge and is on his way to the lame heap. This is what happens when you let the rest of the band write songs too.
