Seattle quartet Death Cab For Cutie have upped the emotional ante with Transatlanticism. While many of their brethren focus on melodic structures, Death Cab relies on atmosphere. This time out, it’s a feeling of ennui that fills the record. Death Cab travel from historical revisionism in "The New Year" to recalling of driving home at night and seeing the stars in "Passenger Seat." Throughout Transatlanticism singer Ben Gibbard focuses on the smallest observations of life, love and mere existence: the true essence of great poetry.
