Wooden Bones is Pilot Speed's third album and their first officially under this moniker (they were previously known as Pilate).
You can argue all you want that 2003's Caught By The Window and 2006's Set Control For Life's Speed were poor U2 imitations, but those records displayed knowledge of the use of tension and release in music. When you build a song up, it should explode or that tension should be resolved somehow.
Wooden Bones is a collection of 11 tracks that, after getting to a certain level, never move past that point and seem to become stuck in themselves. There aren't really any "singles" on this record — save for lead track "Put The Phone Down," which sounds bizarrely like Death Cab For Cutie and doesn't work with the rest of the material — which wouldn't be a bad thing if it had strong songs instead.
