- Capitol/EMI
- 4 / 5

For their fourth album, The Dandy Warhols trade the garage guitar that made them famous for synthesizers and bloopy noises, as well as production from Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes. It’s a fine turn of events and, even with the jump into new wave territory, The Dandys are still cocky and whip smart, with fierce pop sensibilities. The first single, "We Used To Be Friends," gives off a subdued intensity when compared to their frantic crunch-riffs from previous albums. Hipsters will be relieved to know that the Dandys are still darkly sexual and fond of sarcastic lyrics filled with panting, woo-woos and handclap samples, not to mention Courtney Taylor’s unmistakable purring voice that drives us girls wild.
