3OH!3 are named for the area code of their hometown of Boulder, Colo. They're a pair of white, weekend gangstas who make club bangers for the Warped Tour set.
Want, their trainwreck second record, mixes hip-hop beats and heavy electro keyboards with raps about strippers and bar conquests. Lines like "Shush girl, shush your lips/Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips" or "Never trust a ho" (which are both from first single "Don't Trust Me") should give you a sense of where these guys' lyrical ambitions lie.
The duo's schtick is reminiscent of Beastie Boys' frat-rap days. But behind the Beasties' hooligan image were some fantastic songs. Unfortunately, Want is 40 minutes of hollow posturing, without a single memorable track in the lot. It's mindless entertainment that can't even entertain.

White weekend gangstas that make club bangers- is pretty much on point. As for lyrical ambition, I'm not sure which version of Spark Notes got you through college, but the Helen Keller line is amazing. Well amazing for people for people who can enjoy..you know...funny shit.
You were again on point in terms of the "hollow posturing" but why take yourself and music in general so seriously? Oh right, because you're trying to write for the Canadian Pitchfork.
Lighten up a bit, otherwise I think The Decemberists just put out an album you can use to flex your intellect. Or maybe just stick with Atmosphere, whatever cliche is most comfortable for you.
