It's hard to believe that Ajax, Ontario's favourite sons have been hawking their blend of pop-punk and metal worship for six years now. This live set, however, is a testament to the depth of their song catalogue and their developing musical chops. The band are airtight, especially guitarist Dave Baksh, who gets to let his Iron Maiden fetish run even wilder in concert. Frontman Deryck Whibley can be a little grating — his constant swearing at the London, Ontario crowd makes him sound like he's at some sort of punk-rock audition — but his voice is solid and the teenage girls, who make up the vocal majority of the audience, adore him.
Go Chuck Yourself serves as a solid career retrospective from a group who are gradually outgrowing their juvenile origins.
