Josh Reichmann Oracle Band — Crazy Power
- Crazy Power
- Paper Bag/Universal
- 4 / 5

Josh Reichmann is the most intriguing relic to emerge from a series of departures that plagued his first band, Tangiers.
After the critic-beloved rockers called it quits for the second time in 2005, Reichmann resurrected himself in the interestingly labelled Jewish Legend (basically a solo project) and released a glam pop affair titled Telepathy Now! Two years on, Reichmann is back with a new name and group.
As his band's moniker might suggest, Crazy Power is chock full of ominous portents, but the music is jovial enough that things never get too weighty. It's a mix of pop, rock and funk that at its best lands in Of Montreal territory. At its worst (when a little too much saxophone is thrown in), it sounds like the score to an episode of The Love Boat.
Crazy Power's strength lies in its pace. Reichmann rarely lets up on the hard, fast and funky, and this will make a great party record for that reason. It's no Tangiers, but this is definitely the best stuff Reichmann has made in the last five years.
