The Whip — X Marks Destination
- X Marks Destination
- Southern Fried/Razor & Tie
- 3.5 / 5

The Whip's debut dance rock album is packed full of addictive hooks and rocking beats as it combines electronica with rock riffs and frontman Bruce Carter's raspy vocals.
"Trash" and "Blackout" are power-packed, guitar-driven songs guaranteed for dancefloor stardom. The Whip are already making waves in the U.K. and it's easy to see why. Their songs are fun and fresh, and their drummer is a foxy little lady named Fee Daniel. They aren't as sophisticated as other dance-rockers like The Bravery, but there's certainly enough originality and brilliance to make them stand on their own.
"Divebomb" is a mostly instrumental track and one I've already heard bleed into Toronto clubs. The cherries on top of this poppy electronic sundae are the four exclusive bonus remixes by artists like Crookers and Bloody Beetroots.
It'll be interesting to watch The Whip try to conquer North American dancefloors. If this record is any indication, it shouldn't be difficult.
