Cardiff's People In Planes sound like so many U.K. bands with big guitars, wailing powerhouse vocals and driving songs, who manage to sell records at home but do nothing in North America. Unfortunately, this sound is pretty played out and People In Planes offer nothing new to the genre. Matters are made worse by their truly awful lyrics. Lead track "Barracuda" features the outstanding chorus "Don't play scuba/Scuba/Scuba/With The Barracuda" and things don't start to make much more sense as the album progresses. On the surface, As Far As The Eye Can See sounds like a lot of decent records that most fans of this kind of music probably already have, but deep down it has even less substance.
