There are many ways to express how awesome this debut is, but honestly, there's no better way than "Holy fuck." You'll hear those two words shouted intermittently during the live show of this Brian Borcherdt-founded band and those same two words will run through your head non-stop when their debut kicks you in the ass with 50 minutes of assaulting, cranium-pounding electronica. Like an organic Chemical Brothers, Holy Fuck use live instrumentation and blip-happy improvisation to create funk-filled paranoia ("Tone Bank Jungle"), afrobeat-based IDM ("Korg Rhythm Afro") and stunning, acid-trippin' big-beat rave-ups ("Casio Bossa Nova") with a crapload of disintegrated guitar squalls and percolating synths. This shit really is bananas.
