You'd think since Videogame Theater was created by Scott Chernoff (Adult Swim), BJ Guyer (Team America: World Police) and Frank Meyer (On The Road With The Ramones) that it would be absolutely hilarious. Well, there's certainly no shortage of sick, quirky and politically incorrect humour, but it's nowhere near hilarious. Videogame Theater is a collection of 14 "episodes" that parody '80s video games. The series mostly follows Pac Man, who's now a washed-up former Hollywood video game celebrity turned alcoholic and drug addict, as he reminisces on his better days. It's interspersed with spots from other video game characters, including Lara Croft (a sorority sister who can't stop walking around naked on a university campus), Mario (a horny construction worker with a serious attitude problem) and Rick Joust (a gay jouster who has an inter-species romance with the ostrich he rides). The video game characters are Muppets-style puppets and the graphics are '80s video game type of terrible. Sure, there are somewhat funny parts here and there, but, for the most part, the jokes won't make you laugh. When Pac Man gets high and starts yelling at his wife, it's funny for about five seconds before you're rolling your eyes. Let's just say that it doesn't have the same effect as the barf scene in Team America. Now that was funny. Videogame Theater isn't.
