Hannah Georgas just might be the Canadian Kate Nash. She's not as sarcastic, but Georgas most definitely writes pretty folk/pop acoustic songs with blunt lyrics and catchy rhythms. "Mama's Boy" bursts into an honest chorus of "I guess it's easy to get over an asshole," while "Let's Talk" is a softer song reflecting on growing up and learning. Georgas captures a variety of emotions and musical elements over the disc's five songs and stays true to her singer/songwriter style. Rather than merely using a guitar and percussion, Georgas and her bandmates add a fresh twist and incorporate keyboards, banjos, ukuleles and glockenspiels. "All I Need" is a standout that offers a little bit of hope and a whole whack of talent. The Beat Stuff is an original, pretty EP that's sure to help earn Georgas some excellent musical collaborations. Brendan Canning is going to eat this girl up.
