Canadian songstress Sarah Slean has allowed her alter ego to appear once again. The Baroness Redecorates EP is a collection of seven B-sides from her latest album that combines the Slean of past and present. While producer and I Mother Earth guitarist Jag Tanna discouraged the songbird from hiding behind instrumental arrangements on The Baroness, Slean has brought them back in full force on this disc. Lavish piano parts and strings abound, especially on the instrumental "The 'Disarm' Suite" and "Modern Man I & II." "Compatriots" is classic Slean and is more in line with 2002's Night Bugs, while "Parasol" shows hints of that album, yet goes way overboard in its theatrics. Then there are soft and sweet tracks like "The Rose" and "Hear Me Out," which are obvious Baroness outtakes. While this will please any Slean completist, sometimes songs are B-sides for a reason.
