Keane — Perfect Symmetry
- Perfect Symmetry
- Interscope/Universal
- 4 / 5

Keane's third release proves they're not just a love 'em or leave 'em band. It's a much less calculated effort than their two previous albums, which came across sounding a little too perfect. The pianos are still here, but '80s-sounding synthesizers and poppy, catchy lyrics have seemingly replaced their heavier influences. Keane wanted to have fun with this record, and it works for them, even if the sound is a bit dated. Singer Tom Chaplin's ability to write beautiful yet vague lyrics still prevails, which makes the stories just as interesting as the soundtrack. Keane took chances and ditched the mathematics, and wound up with a solid release full of promise and longevity. Standouts include "You Haven't Told Me Anything," the title track and "Again And Again." The result is an album that's solid from front to back. Perfect Symmetry is a must-have for Keane fans or anyone who appreciates unpretentious rock.
