A Perfect Circle is not Tool, and Tool is not dead. This is simply another band that Maynard James Keenan, the brilliant, intelligent and impassioned lead vocalist has gotten himself involved in. No, it's not Tool, but it's fucking good. Every song on the album is, in fact, fucking good. The lyrics are dark, the music heavy, if a little less-so than Tool's. And Keenan's voice, so powerful when lingering, lamenting or howling, is as awakening as ever — like a blast of cold water to the face. One hidden swear word has got a label thrown on this baby — see if you can find it. It took me a while.
