It was probably bands like Taking Back Sunday that created the hybrid of pop, punk and emo that begat groups like Idle Sons — the sort who sing about the sordid emotions that can only be expressed by angst-ridden man-children with spiked belts and asymmetrical haircuts. Even disregarding the complete riff rip-off of the Smashing Pumpkins' "Today" that appears in Sixteen Seasons' "Getaway," it's obvious there's very little original about this bunch. The production's solid enough, especially on a radio-friendly tune like "ThisEvening," but with a sound reminiscent of any band on the Warped Tour roster, Idle Sons will have to work a little harder to stand out.
