What possessed someone to release a soundtrack with current teen faves like Muse, Paramore and Linkin Park sandwiched between such long-gone, mid-'90s acts like Perry Farrell and Collective Soul? If Twilight is supposed to be this generation's twisted vampire romance, this soundtrack doesn't exactly reflect what today's kids are listening to. That said, most of the songs here are poor choices for a vampire flick soundtrack to begin with. One has to wonder if The Black Ghosts' "Full Moon" was picked specifically for its title. If so, that's pretty lame. It's also hopelessly out of place next to Paramore and Linkin Park. The "folky" latter part of the disc features Iron & Wine (what the heck is Sam Beam doing on this soundtrack?) and Twilight star Rob Pattinson. It's in the wrong spot, anyway, but then the soundtrack ends with a piece by film scorer Carter Burwell, which proves this disc's clunkiness. If a soundtrack (or even a mix tape) begins loudly, you don't end it quietly and with a completely different style of music.
