Although cool and somewhat funny, Siblings isn't quite as wickedly hilarious as its premise would suggest. A black comedy about a group of step-siblings that sort-of-accidentally kill their evil stepparents and have to cover it up to receive their inheritance (played with malevolent fun by Sonja Smits and Nicholas Campbell), the film pulls no punches and does manage to garner some laughs, but other than an absolutely hysterical recital scene, it somehow falls short of becoming a Heathers for broken homes. It's still a fun film, though, and the combination of actors and soundtrack (featuring The Organ, The Golden Dogs and The Stars) should be enough to interest fans of both Canadian indie cinema and music as long as their expectations aren't too high.
