Shout Out Out Out Out/San Serac — "In The End It's Your Friends/Friends"

Music Review
It's probably too early in the band's career to make any definitive statements on the matter, but between this and "Nobody Calls Me Unless They Want Something," it's starting to look like SOOOO come across far better in albums than singles. There just seems to be something about the single format, with its potential for unnecessary remixes and less-than-perfect collaborations, that sucks the "rock" part out of the group's highly intoxicating dance rock sound and leaves just a slight buzz. "In The End It's Your Friends" as a song is moderately entertaining, but bears a bit too much of an odd resemblance to Lipps Inc.'s "Funkytown" to be truly great. The San Serac remix further chips away at the song's attributes and the result is little more than funky elevator music. San Serac fares even worse on his side, as he doesn't so much straddle the line between '80s inspiration and sheer mimicry as he does stumble back and forth like someone failing a sobriety test. Unless you're really dying for new SOOOO material, you're better off waiting for something meatier.
