Haste The Day should be credited with one thing: they're one of the few metalcore bands that still maintain conventional song structure. But, as an avid listener of bands who have unpredictable song structure, when a band continues to be relatively predictable, I expect the songs to still be good and catchy. This is where Haste The Day shouldn't be credited. While
Dreamer has have some great choruses ("Invoke Reform" and "Man Man" to name a couple), the verses in every song are very forgettable. The bridges (which are also apparently now known as breakdowns), show the band unsuccessfully trying to be August Burns Red. They also make one big mistake at the end of the album. "Porcelain" would serve as a fantastic closer, but they threw in the reworked "Autumn," which is a boring acoustic number. If Haste The Day would fool around with structure a bit, stop trying to be something they're not and make a few good judgment calls next time around, they could create something more worthy.
