With five full-lengths under his belt, T.I. is one of rap's biggest stars. On Paper Trail, it seems like he's let it go to his head. Frankly, this CD is full of lacklustre beats and one-dimensional lyrics about patron tequila, which seems to be an insanely popular beverage these days (The Game talks about it a lot on his newest release as well). Fortunately, guest appearances by Kanye West, Jay-Z and Lil' Wayne on "Swagga Like Us," which is easily one of the best rap songs of the year, and Justin Timberlake on "Dead And Gone," help the record save face. The side effect of this is the impression that T.I. can't get it done on his own and leads one to believe the trail he's laying down isn't a paper one, but a lame one.
