Motorhead haven't
veered too far from their intense, hard-rocking, punk-inflected metal
formula over their 31-year career and, at this late stage, they
probably shouldn't. The acoustic introduction to "God Was Never On Your
Side" (featuring Poison guitarist C.C. Deville) is the lone surprise,
unless you count the inclusion of the short but sweet (well, as sweet
as Motorhead get) "R.A.M.O.N.E.S." tribute that originally appeared on
1991's 1916 album. The band also delve into the past by reviving Dr.
Rock on "Going Down." Lemmy and company play it as loud and fast as
ever. While some of the lyrics could be interpreted as misogynistic,
Motorhead really aren't known as ladies men anyway. The ultimate power
trio come through most powerfully on the album-opening "Sucker" and add
a dash of extra melody to "Christine."
