Method
Man has gone from selling drugs to selling deodorant and from guesting
on classic albums by Big and Pac to guesting on Boston Public. But
after his last two overly long, inconsistent and ill-received albums,
Mr. Mef is determined to redeem himself. On the Lauryn Hill-assisted
Bob Marley nod, "Say," he raps, "The last album wasn't feeling my
style/This time my foot up in they ass/Bet they feelin' me now." Yep,
Method Man's foot is up our ass and it feels terrific. In the place of
bland radio-ready production and lazy rhymes, we get concrete-cracking
beats from Erick Sermon and RZA, plus some of the freshest flows of
Method Man's career. We've always known that he's the most charismatic
Clansman, but 4:21 suggests that he's also one of the group's strongest
MCs.
