Jill Barber has one of those warm, honeyed voices that evokes the vocals of Sarah Harmer and Sarah Slean, only less angular than the former and less fey than the latter. For All Time features a careful selection of songs that showcase Barber's varied styles. There's the gentle blues of "Just For Now," the coy, jazzy playfulness of "When I'm Making Love To You" and the finger-snapping groove of "Hard Line." Mournful strains of pedal steel mix with gentle swells of piano to underpin Barber's acoustic guitar work. Overall, it's a well-crafted and understated album from a talent who, over the past few years, has been developing and emerging to ensure herself a well-deserved spot in the scene.
