Trivium became massively popular in 2005 with Ascendancy, which was primarily metalcore focused. They dropped the screaming and picked up Metallica's discography for The Crusade a year later. This change sparked a lot of internet debates about whether this made the band suck. Trivium are now back with a new producer, new record and vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy has brought the screaming back. Although it doesn't sound as strong as before, it adds another element to their sound, which was one of the many things lacking on The Crusade. The Metallica worship is also out, and a sound that's actually unique replaces it. There's some serious riffage and soloing by both Heafy and guitarist Corey Beaulieu, and drummer Travis Smith is starting to be worth the size and cost of his drum kit. Shogun is going to surprise Trivium and metal fans alike.
