ChartAttack staff swarmed the Pop Montreal festival last weekend. Here are some of the highlights:
Here's where the ol' "preservation of Quebec culture" idea gets a little uncomfortable. See, Quebec's zeal for protecting their Frenchness has made for a culture filled with theatres, plays, shows, festivals and all sorts of vibrant, enriching artistic endeavours. It also means bands like Mogliny get more attention than they deserve. For whatever reason the crowd was eating up their French-Primus-folk-rock, but truthfully, their musical highlight came when, mid-song, they froze mime-style in rock poses for three minutes. That silence was the best they sounded all night.
