DVD Review

A lot of bands get the title of road warriors for their seemingly endless touring schedules, but Clutch would have to be the true kings of the road. No matter when you might be reading this review, I bet they're currently on tour somewhere putting on one hell of a show. Unfortunately, their awesome show isn't fully captured on Full Fathom Five. Clutch didn't put on a performance that was DVD-worthy here. It's pretty simple not to mess up: pick a gig at a good venue; make sure the lighting, cameras, presentation, performance and crowd are solid; then film. Viewers are robbed of reliving this live experience because the DVD takes selections from five different shows, all filmed differently and with wildly varying quality. A two-night stint in Sayreville, N.J. is probably the best shot, while a gig in Sydney, Australia was probably included just to prove they got to tour there. The performances are still great, but I just expected a little more from a band as reliable as Clutch.
