Listening to Tin Fist is
like watching your favourite tree change colours in the fall, only to
reveal layers and shades you didn't even know you loved. This cozy
six-song EP will keep you interested the whole way through its short
duration with its combination of group harmonies, sprinkles of
electronic backing and both an acoustic and electric indie-folk-rock
sound unlike anything our else capital's music scene is producing
today. "Dents" is a Hawksley Workman-ish country stomper with banjo
plunking and glowing harmonics while "Brokered Heart" is a
hand-clapping joy ride. The Acorn romance the listener with folk ballad
"Maplebees," but just as easily and skillfully rock out on the standout
drum track, "Spring Thaw." All you'll want after hearing Tin Fist is
five more songs.
