The
Southern, soulful Chris Robinson-led companions offer a double dose of
26 previously unreleased gems. Known for their improvised jam-laced
sets, these two discs recorded in the '90s show the band at their most
raw. The first disc, dubbed The Band Sessions, was recorded in Atlanta
and Nashville in 1997. Some songs, such as lead off "A Conspiracy,"
were later turned into Crowes' hits with more polish, while others,
like "Sunday Buttermilk Waltz," are unearthed gems never before heard
that fans will relish. Disc two, The Tall Sessions, was recorded in
late 1993 and 1994 in Los Angeles prior to the Amorica session. It
shows a band ready to explode. The Lost Crowes shows the breadth of the
Crowes' talent.
