Many seem to
forget that, before MxPx were writing odes to neglecting their
responsibilities, they were a legitimate punk band, and a pretty solid
one to boot. Let It Happen collects a mass of B-sides, rarities and
covers from their formative years with Christian punk label Tooth &
Nail. With 32 tracks clocking in at well over an hour, you can't deny
this disc's value. Even casual fans will be won over by "Rock And Roll
Girl" or their cover of Ritchie Valens' "Oh Donna." Even more
surprising is just how catchy the trio were, making it somewhat
depressing that they chose the pop-punk route shortly thereafter.
Regardless, Let It Happen chronicles MxPx at their best.
