I'm
not exaggerating in the least when I say that Bodega's Without A Plan,
the last CD by Andrew Rodriguez's old band, was one of the most
criminally slept-on albums in Canadian history. Seriously, go find it
this second and spin it to death. It's amazing. Here Comes The Light is
a more tempered affair. It's full of the same melodic, breezy rock as
Without A Plan, but it's far more laid back. Rodriguez displays tons of
songwriting flair, but his best decision is unquestionably taking on
Montreal's Angela Desveaux as back-up vocalist, and lead on the stellar
"Come On In." The tracks on this disc won't grab you as quickly as the
ones on Bodega's swan song, but you'll find them mysteriously stuck in
your head for days on end nonetheless. With luck, Rodriguez's
ridiculously long stay under the radar comes to an end here and now.
