Not about to let bandmate Emily Haines one-up them, Metric's Joules Scott Key and Joshua Winstead have stepped out from under their hit band's shadow and crafted a two-manned take on new wave rock. Their choice of band name is a bit of a head-scratcher, but, as the title would suggest, the lyrical fare on Best Friends In Love focuses on personal relationships. One wouldn't expect changing roles as a musician to be an easy thing, but Winstead makes a relatively smooth transition from Metric bassist to lead guitarist/singer. Though the pair's musicianship is sound throughout, Best Friends In Love is missing the two or three standout tracks that might have made it memorable. While other bands, like the The White Stripes or Death From Above 1979, have been able to pull off a big sound with just a drummer and guitarist, Bang Lime lack the much-needed biff and/or pow!
