Young And Sexy — The Arc
- The Arc
- Mint
- 2 / 5

Young And Sexy present an inoffensive but aimless meander into unadventurous melodies and swirly guitars on their latest. Maybe if they wrote better songs (or if they just learned how to record drums properly) they wouldn't sound so much like a budget Pink Floyd. As it is, Y&S get too tangled up in reaching for that unreachable perfect guitar texture and forget about creating something otherwise meaningful. Bassist Brent McDonald is the worst offender because he uses his instrument to further his own presence rather than put some ground beneath the spineless vocalists, who need all the support they can get. The mix is murky enough without his upper register noodling. For its unrepeated energy "Young & Sexy Vs. The Arc" is the only track worth revisiting, and only for the first line of the chorus. The rest is amateur and boring.
