On their last record, Disconnection Notice, Goldfinger tried to get you to protest while they skanked. Unfortunately, it didn't work out too well. You can't skank to Hello Destiny, but it seems like the band still want you to protest. Goldfinger haven't quite abandoned the horns, but here they have been relegated to a small number of tracks — most notably "Get Up," which, as the title suggests, encourages you to get up, or get down. Crunchy rock chords and metal-influenced octave solos dominate tracks like the inventively titled "War," which opens with some top-notch Sousa-inspired drumming from ChartAttack Hack winger Darrin Pfeiffer. "Handjobs For Jesus" doesn't disappoint on the entertaining lyrics front, but falls short philosophically with some clumsy forays into atheism. "Free Kevin KJonaas" is a stirring call to arms for a jailed animal activist. Hello Destiny distances Goldfinger from their ska brethren and aligns them more with the political punk of newer Bad Religion or Millencolin, a move that seems to have worked.
