A quote from the Woodhands website: "Our new album, when it's done, is gonna be awesome." That's a pretty ballsy statement to make, but it turns out to be totally true. This self-described "post-funk" duo, helmed by Dan Werb can be filed under the wicked new wave of electronica bands busting recently, like Shout Out Out Out Out, Holy Fuck, Chromeo and Justice. Starting off edgy, fast-paced and raw and ending on a more ambient note, the music of Woodhands can be charactertized by infectious, bass-heavy, complicated-yet-danceable beats and Werb's vocals, which vary from electronically altered crooning to angry, intense emoting that's borderline screamo (and works beautifully). Guest vocalists Maylee Todd and Taylor Trowbridge add a softer, more melodic touch on certain tracks. Perfectly paced and brilliantly realized, this is definitely a heart attack that will knock you dead.
