You're probably thinking, "Great, another heavy metal documentary that takes us back to the working class streets of Birmingham, England, where Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler..." well, you get the idea. Normally these metal documentaries quickly name-check every major player, with references to top acts like Maiden, Priest, Motorhead and, if they can squeeze them in, Samson and Tygers Of Pan Tang. But clocking in at close to 160 minutes, this film goes further and documents the sub-genres, the early roots in punk rock and the scene's ascent into the mainstream in great detail, including in-depth pieces on every band to come out of that period and the various publications and radio outlets that promoted them. Featuring interviews with original Maiden singer Paul Di'Anno as well as journalists and radio personalities who were there when it happened, this is a must-see for any fan who thinks they know the whole story of what's probably the biggest movement in metal history.
