Black Lungs @ NXNE 2008

BACKGROUND/COMPOSITION: With two members of popular hardcore band Alexisonfire, this band are stuffed with oomph but focus more on a melodic tone. They recently released their Send Flowers debut album.

Comment:The set was thumping and pushed hardcore, but on the nicer side of things. While vocalist Wade MacNeil was visibly in control, his backing musicians didn't go unnoticed.

This is what side projects are all about. The musician obviously likes what they’re normally playing, but wants to change a few things. Here, MacNeil focused on making hardcore a little more personal. It was hard not to find a smile on anyone in the crowd.

Each member of the band were charming in their own rights as they pummelled through the set, but bassist Chris Steele was the real entertainer as he played the role of camera whore.
