Hometown: Vancouver, BC
Background/Composition: A special appearance by ex-punk rocker/new country diva Neko Case, and a second show for Vancouver's Carolyn Mark.
Achievement of Rock 'n' Roll Expectations
80-100: Band exceeds skill and knowledge expectations. Rocked us so hard we peed our pants.
70-79: Band achieves required skills and knowledge. Meets rock 'n' roll standard.
60-69: Demonstrates some skills. Approaches rock 'n' roll standard.
50-59: Band demonstrates some required skills and knowledge in a limited way.
Below 50: Band has not demonstrated required skills or knowledge.
Grade: 80
Comment: With Neko recently making national headlines for her latest release, her appearance with an outstanding performer like Carolyn Mark made for a special treat for all NXNE festival attendees. The two lived up to their pseudonym by rocking the crowd with a mix of country tunes and folk melodies, in turn playing a great set that captured the attention of everyone on hand.
Learning Skills: E=Excellent, G=Good, S=Satisfactory, N=Sad Really
Oral And Visual Communication

Appearance: G
Use Of Stage: G
Strengths/ Weaknesses/ Next Step: I was surprised with Neko's timid nature, but paired beside the flamboyant humour queen Andrew Dice Clay would seem dry. The two had the crowd eating out of the palm of their hands right from the beginning. Even the obvious hip-hop fans beside me were commenting on how "cool the tunes are."

Strengths/ Weaknesses/ Next Step: Despite a weak ending, the girls rifled through their set with ease. For an unrehearsed gig, they harmonized together amazingly well, complimenting each other's styles beautifully. Can we expect to see a Neko/Carolyn album in the near future? Hope so, but doubt it.

Strengths/ Weaknesses/ Next Step: It was alt.country at it's finest, and that's style enough. Cool.
