Amazing Journey: The Story Of The Who

Directed by: Paul Crowder, Murray Lerner

Amazing Journey: The Story Of The Who is every bit as flashy, modish, raucous and cool as the band it explores. An impressive mix of archival footage, celebrity commentary and new interviews, the film is a visual, substantial and musical treat.

Chronicling everything from the members' loosely interconnected childhoods to their recent triumphant return, this doc is a comprehensive and up-to-date look at one of the most important groups in rock 'n' roll history. Concert footage covers everything from their early shows as The Detours to their return to the stage after bassist John Entwistle's death in 2002. The inclusion of old interviews and TV appearances (including their literally explosive first appearance on American television) allow the viewer to follow both the artistic and personal developments of The Who throughout their long and storied career. Context for the footage is provided with new interviews from surviving members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, as well as commentary from Sting, The Edge, Eddie Vedder and Noel Gallagher.

Blended together, all these pieces form a seamless package of humour, heartbreak, personal conflict and artistic triumph.
