Use Of Stage: G

Strengths/Weaknesses/NextStep: H-Burns began his set with no preamble, just a little unassuming guy who climbed up on stage, and started going at it on an acoustic guitar. Though he greeted us afterwards, the stage banter was minimal. It didn't seem necessary, though. The set had a great flow. He brought some warmth into the smelly, basement-dank of the El Mo.

Strengths/Weaknesses/NextStep: The lyrics had a poetic twist, and his voice is mellow with a hint of whiskey. The guitar work was particularly admirable in its fingerpicking intricacies. This was showcased really well in a daring cover of Sun Kil Moon's "Salvador Sanchez."
