Wil @ CMW 2007

Live Review
Wil (Photo By Rachel Verbin)
Background/Composition: Immediately reminiscent of Ryan Adams, with maybe a bit of Hayden, Wil's electro-accoustic approach to his guitar is striking and his clear booming voice impressive, but it was the slide guitar of "Honey Pie" that finally won us over.

Grade: 79

Comment: Wil sometimes leans heavily on the country influences of his past, but with some folk and rock thrown in, and a beautiful horn accompaniament, this is country the indie set doesn't have to shy away from.

Strengths/Weaknesses/NextStep: Wil and Ryan Adams should for real go on tour together. "Honey Pie" was by far the song of the set and one of the best songs of the night, and what is normally a two-piece, guitar-drum outfit, Wil had the opportunity to really kick up some dust.

Strengths/Weaknesses/NextStep: Wil has some great on-stage enthusiasm and an obvious love for the music he gets to play. I'd be very interested to see his stripped down set for some of the more low-fi approach to these songs.
