Live Review
- June 10, 2006
- Toronto, ON
- Crowbar
- 4 / 5

Background/Composition: Two lead vocalists pair up in this foursome to deliver solid piano-infused rock.
Grade: 81
Comment: Easily the biggest surprise for me at NXNE this year. By combining solid guitar riffs and solos with the heavy piano-driven melodies, they had the folks at Crowbar hanging off every note and moving to the rhythm.
Achievement of Rock 'n' Roll Expectations
80-100: Exceeds skill and knowledge expectations, i.e. rocked us so hard we peed our pants.
70-79: Achieves required skills and knowledge. Meets rock 'n' roll standard.
60-69: Demonstrates some skills. Approaches rock 'n' roll standard.
50-59: Demonstrates some required skills and knowledge in a limited way.
00-50: Has not demonstrated required skills or knowledge.
Learning Skills: E=Excellent, G=Good, S=Satisfactory, N=Sad Really
Oral And Visual Communication
Eye Contact: G
Pronounciation: E
Stage Presence: G
Stage Banter: G
Image: E
Appearance: G
Use Of Stage: S
Strengths/Weaknesses/NextStep: While there was nothing overly special about their appearance, the lead singer and keyboard player had great mutton-chop side burns that were somewhat mezmerizing.
Musical Analysis
Level Of Participation: E
Problem Solving: G
Teamwork: G
Work Habits: G
Organization: G
Audience Participation: S
Sound: E
Composition: G
Songs: G
Strengths/Weaknesses/NextStep: After playing together for five years, LIghts On definitely have their act together. It's also refreshing to hear a band add another layer (piano) instead of relying on the typical instrumentation. It really gives them their own sound.
Other Skills And Areas Of Interest
Charisma: E
Problem Solving: G
Teamwork: G
Sexiness: G
Haircut: G
Indie Rock Footwear: G
Nods To Disposible Fashion: G
Cool Equipment: G
Level Of Inebriation: G
Actual Ability: G
Strengths/Weaknesses/NextStep: Lights On definitely benefitted from a full house of friendly support at Crowbar. Regardless, they can deliver the goods and should be put on your "to check out" list next time you see they're playing your town.
