Hometown: Toronto,ON
Background/Composition: Honky-tonk rockabilly boys with new-grass, indie-blues undertones. Attitude and twangy gnarls are the key. Goes well with Southern Comfort.

Comment: They have a song called "OPP Blues." They are my new heroes.

Use Of Stage: G
Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: They had a raging enthusiasm fueled by the music-hungry audience. They ho-downed, doe-see-doed, broke strings with theirr azor-sharp fingerwork and maintained a steady rock 'n'roll pace like a steam train. Keeping up the mood with Yee-Haws and Wee-Hoos, they were so endearing you just wanna sit them down and feed them Campbell's Chunkysoup with some gritts.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: Although most of the audience at this point were seated for their meals, they were turned about in their seats, eyes glued toward the charged cowboys with unrequited love, pickups, the railroad and beer on the brain. This was a guy-pleasin' band, full of country-bravado and throaty-angst. Guitarist Bradley even ordered a 50 to the stage. At one point, they blew out an amp (not to mention one of their guitars had a gaping hole under the bridge), but they kept playing to the amusement of the crowd, who cheered them on nonetheless.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: They had the coolest instruments ever — a suitcase base drum plus a double bass made out of a sticktied to a slop-bucket! This was rounded out by their rubber boots, mutton chops, Buddy Holly glasses and, I shit you not, 9 1/2 fingers. They're clever, these boys, with lyrics full of anti-bourgeois, anti-authority themes which are th soul of blues. They operate with full force in their genre. At one point betwen songs, some crazy guy roared through the small venue, "Suck my balls!" but without missing a beat, Pelly quipped, "After theshow." And the band played on.
